About the Language Research Portal

The Language Research Portal is where the Comparative Heritage Project studies the world's languages as instruments of national and global security: how they carry power, how meaning survives or fails in translation, and how human and machine systems can be held to account for it.

Leadership

The portal is directed by Dr. David Olali, Founding Director of the Comparative Heritage Project. His Comparativity Complex Theory treats heritage as a source of power that adapts or dies, and the Project's Heritage Security Intelligence framework applies that view to security. Here, both are brought to bear on human language: where it protects, where it endangers, and who decides.

What the research does

Trained reviewers who speak each language evaluate how well translation, human and machine, preserves meaning. Every evaluation records the model, language, version and reviewer, so findings can be checked and repeated, and they are read comparatively across languages and traditions. The communities whose languages are studied are partners in the work.

The first programme, African Languages, is open to reviewers now. Further programmes are in development.
